The Comeback

Has anyone seen Lisa Kudrow in "The Comeback?" It played on HBO about 6 months ago and has already been cancelled after only one season.

Which is too bad -- cuz it is brilliant.

She plays an late 80's/early 90's TV star (her hit show was called "I'm It.") who is getting a second chance (a comeback if you will). She has been cast as Aunt Sassy in a new sitcom called "Room and Bored." And while she is filming that show, she is also filming a reality show chronicling her comeback.

Despite its cancellation, Lisa Kudrow still got an emmy nod for best actress in a comedy. And well-deserved too.

Here is a pic of her as Aunt Sassy in "Room and Bored":

I LURVED this show. Really. I couldn't wait to watch it every week and held a vigil when they cancelled it. Luckily I work at a place that has the series on DVD for sale, so...I suppose I'll be watching that soon enough.

P.S. Madonna totally stole her hair-do for Confessions. And in one scene in a later episode, Lisa Kudrow's character is wearing a purple top that I swear inspired Madonna's entire look for the last album and tour. I don't need to see that!

i totally agree with you anonymous. madonna stole valerie cherish's look.

and I LOVE valerie's catch-phrase: "I Don't Need To See That."

It started as "Note to self: I don't need to see that!"
And the priceless bad delivery followed by the "studio audience" eating it up...well, it sealed my love for this show.

seriously, this show is pure genius. i don't know why it was canceled, although i don't know where it could have gone after the first season. it was totally brilliant.

i'm so glad i bought the DVDs so i can watch it all again. if lisa kudrow doesn't get an emmy, i'll be really angry.

remember the scene when she was talking about the scoliosis brace and how she couldn't be on the soccer team and started crying? that's genius acting.

I thought this show was so bold, so different, and just so funny (once I learned to embrace the cringe). It's a shame HBO was not more patient and give it time to develop an audience. This show was such a cut above what's on TV. I can't wait until my DVD arrives.
